Cycle Tour I Circumnavigation the Iberian Peninsula I Spain and Portugal I Cycling in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

In this stage of my trip I cycled along the French Riviera, known in French as the Côte d'Azur in the Mediterranean coast is a region It winds its way through with diverse and stunning landscape with a variety of terrains, from flat and rolling and hilly coastal roads. It is an unforgettable experience route that passes through elegant cities and glamorous seaside resorts with the waters of the Mediterranean as its protagonist.

DESCRIPTION

nd from today I really started pedaling starting from the Roma campsite in Ventimiglia, the last town on the Ligurian Riviera before reaching the French border I passed the town of Latte and immediately after the state border I entered France in the first French picturesque town of Menton and it is located in the heart of the French Riviera of the Côte d'Azur (Cote d'Azur).

From Montone to Nice there are three scenic roads to choose from (Basse Corniche, Moyenne Corniche and Grande Corniche) that run parallel to each other, with different differences in altitude that lead to Nice.

I had preferred to cycle along the coastal road that winds through varied landscapes with challenging slopes, the Basse Corniche, the closest to the sea, offering panoramic views, historical sites which connects picturesque coastal towns such as Menton, Rouquebrun-Cap-Martin, Monte Carlo and Nice and from the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice to Villeneuve-Loubet, passing through Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer, Antibes, Cannes is famous for the Film Festival and also from the Promenade de la Croisette, or Boulevard de la Croisette .

After leaving the Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes, I continue along the winding coastal road of the Corniche d'Or, an incredible expanse of majestic land that extends to the pristine beaches kissed by the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean and skirts the red rocks of the Estérel Massif that connects Saint-Raphaël to La Napoule/Mandelieu, Fréjus, Sainte-Maxime and from Port Grimaud I could have continued to the town of Saint-Tropez, a popular tourist destination, but I had not visited it because it is one of the most crowded summer destinations.

I then continued, leaving the sea and plunging into the French hinterland towards La Môle, Toulon, Marseille, Martigues, Salin-de-Giraud, through the Camargue Regional Natural Park, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, Salin-de-Giraud following the EV8 cycle path and passing through Grande-Motte, Sète  the city between the Étang de Thau lagoon, the sea and the canals, is known as “The Venice of Languedoc” thanks to its charming canals, which cross the city, similar to those of Venice, Agde, Leucate and the city of Barcarès, a commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, in the south of France, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Then the route leaves the sea level of the Adriatic Sea in the locality of Barcarès, on the lope of the Pyrenees Orientates and from that point through the Piémont Pyrenéen route
